The podcast that I want to discuss is “What We Inherit” provided by Code Switch and I would look to focus on the Sam and the overall problems that he was facing after he moved to Seattle and was being isolated from his Native culture. The theories that I would like to apply to this includes Vygotsky’s socio-cultural cognitive theory and also Erikson’s psychosocial theory of development. It can be said that Vygotsky’s theory tried to inform us that the cognitive development tends to guide our culture and social interactions and he also tries to informs that the children who belong to different cultures are able to learn to use these society’s inventions that is quite different and this is the main reason it can be considered to be important for considering the role that one’s culture plays in their development.
